MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Saturday issued a list of areas at high risk of storm surge that may occur within the next 48 hours due to Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi).

Article continues after this advertisementIn its 2 p.m. advisory, Pagasa said that the low-lying or exposed coastal communities of the following areas may experience “life-threatening inundation from rising sea water along with high waves.”

Article continues after this advertisementThe weather agency also noted that the super typhoon further intensified, where it was last located 200 kilometers (km) east of Juban, Sorsogon or 180 km east-southeast of Virac, Catanduanes.
It was now packing a maximum wind speed of 195 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 240 kph, and moving west-northwestward at 20 kph.
